On 31 October 2017, the day after its official inauguration, the Tunisian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (CCTS) held its first seminar: the Global Deal Forum in Gammarth, Tunis, co-organised with the Embassy of Sweden in Tunisia. The forum addressed one central question: how can social dialogue contribute to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development?
The forum was opened by CCTS President Mr. Aziz Zouhir and H.E. Fredrik Florén, Ambassador of Sweden to Tunisia, and moderated by Mr. Mustapha Tlili.
Both countries brought their tripartite model to the stage. Sweden was represented by H.E. Ann Linde, Minister for EU Affairs and Trade, Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) and Göran Trogen for Swedish employers. Tunisia was represented by H.E. Mohamed Trabelsi, Minister for Social Affairs, Noureddine Taboubi, Secretary General of the UGTT, and Sami Sellini for UTICA.
The debate explored how the Swedish model, in which government, trade unions and employers negotiate together, could support Tunisia’s economic transformation. The forum received wide media coverage, including a report on Nessma TV’s evening news.
